Love letters (aka I'll show you mine)

Walking home a few days ago I ran into a neighbor on my block.
"You look so happy and relaxed," he said.  It's true; I was walking up the block enjoying the crisp kiss of the Fall air, savoring a cup of coffee, a little blissed out from the yoga class I'd just left.
I was feeling grateful and lucky to live here in Park Slope, and to have found these places that so enrich my life.

And thus, I think I ought to share them with you.  I figure this is an ever evolving list, and there are so many places that I love that "love letters" will become a recurring tag, because if I don't break it up it'll be a huge list, and you won't think I'm discerning at all.

It's businesses like these and the people who own and run them that make this place so damn great.

*******************************************************************

The yoga studio I'd just left is Bend & Bloom on Sackett street. It's a warm, welcoming, non-competitive studio where I run into friends and acquaintances, and always, always leave feeling loved.

The coffee had come from Konditori on 5th Ave, whose barristas are invariably efficient and sunny, the coffee is yummy, and the place is often playing music that makes me happy. Plus, donuts from Dough.

On the subject of cafe's though… there are so many great places in the nabe that I'll just call out a couple more:
Colson Patisserie on the corner of 9th Street and 6th Avenue is bright, with delicious baked goods (the chocolate financiers are addictive), friendly, and fosters a marvelous community vibe. People talk to each other here.
Café Martin is a gem. If you've been there more than once Martin will remember you by your regular order. There is something deeply pleasing about being recognized, and watching him greet customers by their order is a thing of beauty. "Large green tea?" he'll ask the guy coming in, and "double cappuccino?" he says to the man with the baby strapped to his chest. Both men brighten and nod. It's good.

Ok. That's what I'm giving you today. Show me yours! Who/ what are your favorites?
I look forward to continuing this list…

And as far as the store goes. Stop in! There are warm, beautiful, original, great things filling our shelves. Things made with love to please you and yours.

xx Diana
