There's nothing better than boobs right?  So, we bring you boobs that are hand printed on a heavy canvas tote with luscious leather straps. 

Our latest find is guaranteed to brighten anyone's day. The 18 oz. canvas 19" x 19" tote with ruby leather straps was hand made in San Francisco by the ladies of Gravel & Gold Goods.

Gravel & Gold is a shop in the Mission District of San Francisco offering items made with "wit, utility, and beauty." They make a point to know where their materials come from and directly support the makers who create the items in their store.

tall cow hand printed greeting cards

I used to buy these cards from Sacredy Kat, whose owners have sadly moved away, taking their wonderful store with them... I couldn't bear to think of Park Slope without Tall Cow representation, so I wrote and asked if they'd like to be here with us...

Tall Cow was created by Deanna Ebner in May of 2004. This small company is dedicated to maintaining a unique contribution to the creative world of card design. They create fun and quirky hand printed greeting cards. Their edgy and sophisticated style is worth framing- especially the "bigs". 

 We are honored to carry their beautiful work in Diana Kane.

hikaru noguchi

Diana Kane is happy to introduce Hikaru Noguchi's scarves and gloves to our collection of Fall and Winter wear.  She's got a great eye for color, and the knits, mostly of baby merino, are pure heaven.  Everything made in the UK.

Hikaru Noguchi moved to England from Japan in 1989 to study constructed textiles, specialising in knit, having previously taken a degree in graphic design at Musashino Art University in her native Tokyo. Finding a measure of artistic freedom and stimulation in England which she had not found in Japan, she stayed on after completing her studies at Middlesex University to take up knitted textile design work, developing new and innovative textiles for furnishings, scarves, bags and garments.This direction has led to her collaboration with a number of British designers including Tom Dixon, Top Shop and projects for Barneys, Browns, Paul Smith women, and many other stores.

Her work has developed to mix texture, colour and hand knit qualities. With influences from traditional knit patterns and techniques, such as fair- isle, Aran, embroidery and stripe. Sources of inspiration are diverse, from flea markets all over the world to paintings of De Chirico. She seeks a look that is both sophisticated and quirky, achieved through unusual juxtapositions of colour and texture. Throughout, her fundamental theme is one of joie de vivre.Hikaru has participated in many shows and exhibitions all over the world, and her work is sold in boutiques and department stores in London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, and elsewhere.

Wonder women

It's funny that I've never written about this before, but if you've visited the store it's likely that you will have noticed the images of Wonder Woman scattered throughout.  I love her.

There are very few female superheroes, and many of the ones we have are mere derivatives of their male counterparts (bat girl, anyone?).  There were probably even fewer when I was growing up.  But there was always Wonder Woman: the kick-ass Amazon princess who selflessly heeds the call of a society in peril, giving up her island paradise to come to mankind's aid.

She's unabashedly beautiful and feminine, strong, independent, kind and caring.  And wow, those accessories: bullet deflecting bracelets, a lasso that compels the truth, an invisible plane?  Not to mention the boots...

I like the reminder.... I like the message... Looking hot doesn't make you weak, you don't need big muscles or a big gun to be strong and get things done, and helping people who need it is cool.

About six months ago, Independent Lens ran a documentary about wonder women, and Wonder Woman in particular, that was really (yeah) wonderful.  I highly recommend checking it out, as it was totally compelling, educational, and clearly made with love.

So in our dressing rooms, and on our walls, and on our website too, you will come across images of Wonder Woman.

Good things

Meet Xirena, one of my favorites.  The styles are colorful, chic, and if I may, HOT.

They straddle the space between lingerie and swimsuits. They're made to be seen. (Yes, you count.)
In addition to the fabulous patterns and color-block, Xirena also makes a fantastic cotton poplin button down shirt. And that's just about the extent of the collection. But Oh, what they do they do so well.
