Good Karma Sale 11/25-11/30

Here we go. This weekend, we're participating in it all: Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. But this time, we're wrapping them all in a Good Karma bow. Introducing the Good Karma Sale. This is how it's going to go: 15% off on all regularly priced merch for all of you all weekend long; we appreciate your business so so much.
And 5% of our weekend gross will go to a charity I have chosen: Gilda's Club.

This year Cancer is on my mind. It hasn't touched my nearest and dearest, but goddamn it's in my peripheral vision a lot lately.

Gilda's Club, founded in honor of comedian Gilda Radner who died of ovarian cancer in 1989, provides a place where cancer patients find support, resources, and a community that cares. After a cancer diagnosis, the medical community will assess and plan a course of treatment – but cancer affects more than just the body. It can affect the well-being of the cancer patient as well as those around them. Gilda's Club provides support and networking groups, educational lectures, workshops and social activities for cancer patients, their loved ones, and those who are bereft. They wear White Hats.

wear it loud, wear it proud

Clashist, and especially this awesome blanket, may be my favorite things in the store right now.
People are complex, no? One day we need sophisticated and luxurious textiles, and the next we need socks with James Franco's face on them.
From their own description, Clashist is a cult brand that allows individuals to express their bold and humorous perspective on culture. The brand immediately found success with its progressive prints and nostalgic motifs. It is designed and made in Los Angeles.

I've been getting complements and comments (and deep pleasure) wearing their tees (Ryan Gosling!!) and leggings for months now, and finally got them into the store. Some come get your fun on too.

Here's a sampling:
Roseanne Blanket, a delicious printed fleece granny square afghan, named for Roseanne Barr

Illustrated Lena Dunham in her birthday suit

James Franco socks (squee!)

A little love from our friends..

Just thought I'd share a review or two. Thanks for the warm fuzzies, ya'll.

Great local business. Diana and the girls that work for her are so lovely. I never feel pressure to buy something like I do in other small boutiques. The atmosphere is great. Lets talk about the stuff! Everything in this store is so detailed and luxurious. She carries Prairie Underground, Sven, Velvet, and Matta just to name a few. Diana also makes most of the jewelry, the rose gold rings are my favorite I'm a huge fan of this place and am always looking in the window when I pass by to see whats new. One of the best shops in Park Slope.

And another...

This shop is lovely for a truly stylish gift for yourself or the woman you love. It is beautifully curated and has a top-notch collection of handbags, jewelry and accessories. You "get what you pay for" here (really top-notch quality and design). I also love that this shop continues as one of the first independent stores to make this neighborhood great. I hope people keep discovering it!

And one more..
My favorite boutique for many years because I wear the things I buy on a daily basis, especially accessories, jewelry and loungewear.  I wear Diana Kane earnings every day, regularly get compliments and give them as gifts!  The value is excellent because the cost per use is so low!!

Off they go!

School's in! As much as I'm sorry to see the days shortening and our carefree hours slip away, I for one, am happy to reclaim some time for myself.
A rainbow blessing the school bus this morning
And I admit it: I'm happy to see the rich warm colors and textures of fall infiltrating our summer lightweights.
One of a kind Bolivian frasadas add color to your floors, or drape beautifully over beds and couches

Velvet-Tees' cotton gauze plaid top, the perfect transitional piece

Matta's saari silk blouse, and the silk-cotton crowd pleaser: dupatta scarf
Come in and see all the new goodness.

It's so not too late. These beauties came in this past week. Gauzy cotton perfect as a beach cover up, and adding easy elegance to your #ootd. (hahaha, but it's true). Come see the pants and dress too.

Bluma Project for the Win

I've been feeling the love for Bluma Project for a while now. Beth Schaeffer's lovely project utilizes artisans in many countries with strong handicraft traditions while encouraging women-run collectives and fair trade practices. Her design sensibility provides a consistent through line, bringing us gorgeous, chic pieces from all over the world that we can feel great about sporting.

The Capri bag is just the latest offering to land in the store.

It can be yours.

Local Swag

I am a little obsessed with procuring the excellent swag from my favorite local joints. It pleases me to support local businesses, but also I have a measure of neighborhood pride. It's a little hard to justify now, since we are so clearly on the map.. and I don't want to be unseemly when I brag about how awesome our neighborhood is. But still.

I distinctly remember our "718" t-shirts from Refinery about 15 years ago (yes, it was).
I've been sporing elementary school gear for a while now, but I'm branching out.

In case you want to know, here are a few good ones:

Superhero Supply: Dave Eggers 826 Valencia project is an inspiration and a joy to behold. Superhero Supply is clever, funny, and totally sincere in its mission to help kids find a love of writing and succeed at school. Good stuff. I love my sweatshirt.

Gorilla Coffee makes great swag. Wanna bring someone a piece of Park Slope? Their graphics are excellent, and the coffee is strong.

Body Reserve Gym: On the corner of 5th Avenue and Union, and housed in a former bank has a swell shirt- an eagle lifting a barbell. Who wouldn't love that?? Apparently, I do.

Cafe Martin's coffee colored shirt with a proud "CAFE MARTIN" emblazoned across the chest.

And of course, ours: Discharge printed on organic cotton, $32:
Get 'em at DK.

Eliza is a former Brooklynite now based in Venice California, and we're happy to represent her on her former home turf.
Baskets come in assorted color combinations. Come see for yourself.

Southern comforts

There are so many pretty new things in the store, but I'm going to take this moment to introduce the Little River Sock Mill. Based in Fort Payne, Alabama, they've been around for over twenty years.
The socks are soft, pretty, and organic cotton. Come refresh your sock drawer this Spring.
